WHAT IS A POLARIZED LENS?

When three dimensional light from the sun comes down and hits
a reflective surface such as water, snow, wet road or a windshield it
becomes polarized or two dimensional. Another term for this is
reflected glare. Reflective glare is more intense than surrounding light
It increases eyestrain and creates a faded effect on surrounding
colors. On the surface of water, reflected glare becomes a barrier
that keeps you from seeing down into clear water.

A non-polarized lens may reduce glare, but only by the same percent
as surrounding light. The glare on the surface of the water and the
faded colors is still evident. A quality-polarized lens eliminates all
reflected glare that hits the lens and also a portion that hits at
other angles. By eliminating reflected glare; you reduce eyestrain,
allowing you to view your surroundings in richer colors. For those
that work on water, it eliminates reflection and allows viewing below
the water surface.
